I miss you, but mostly I believe in you!
– In a letter from Whitney. I have the best friends. Like really. I couldn’t ask for more.

I wouldn’t want to be the one who has to dust all of his collections. I hate dusting.

I'll just leave these five things here.
1. I Agree with Meaghan. WHY ARE THERE NO SCREENS ON WINDOWS HERE?! Why can’t someone answer this question? Every time I put it out there I get the BC answer of “that’s just the way it is.” Not acceptable. That’s just the way … I don’t even know.
2. Tattoos are not offensive. Ever. That is my stance on that issue. Period.
3. I can no longer keep count of...

Return to No Fun City →
by Stacey May Fowles
Vancouver has the distinct pleasure of being the city that hosted my youth’s most essential, reckless decision. As life choices go, it’s not the worst one a girl in her early twenties can make — I misguidedly followed a boy across the country. (I’m quite sure now he didn’t really want to be followed, but was much too nice to say so.) He had been offered a job on...

krispayne:
Hey anyone got a couch or floor in Vancouver that I can grace Monday night?
I totally do! A floor. Not a couch, since I still don’t have one of those.
I feel like Tess (in my mind we are on a first... →
Today I found out that my job requires that I cover my tattoos. Yeah, they could have mentioned it at the interview (I would have taken the job anyway) and yeah, it sucked to find out from another part-time employee while tagging candles, but there’s nothing I can do about that now. I’m sitting here trying to figure out how to incorporate a long-sleeved garment into my wardrobe every...

Yippee! It’s mini and off to the side, but I’ll take it. Now I just need to figure out how to make money from such a thing. You can see the illustration nice and big here.

I'm a workin' girl!
So, as mentioned, I started a new job today. It’s retail, so there’s lots of moving around with boxes, folding, etc. Our dress code is “professional” with a few stipulations: no cleavage, no super short hemlines, and no underarms (aka: a short or cap sleeve minimum) but the most challenging part is that I can’t wear pants. It’s skirts and tops or dresses when...

Tomorrow
Is the first day at my new job. I’m nervous even though it is only four or five hours and mostly filled with paperwork. I hope they like me!

House keeping!
First: hello to a few new followers!
Second: This blog is now found at www.katietower.ca. I finally got around to making some changes to the theme and putting it at my own domain, so if you have me in your bookmarks or RSS, please update the address as it helps me with my analytics and such (although if you go the old route - katietower.tumblr.com - you’ll still get here). For those of you...

Join the Club
Tonight I took myself on a date to East is East for a yogurt Lassie and then to The Regional Assembly of Text for letter writing club. This store is too good for words and this event is FREE. They supply the paper, stamps, typewriters, and envelopes. There’s cookies and juice. It’s heaven for a paper junkie, really. I wrote two letters and released some stress by pounding away on my...

Here's an update
for those who care to know.
The Vancouver weather has finally turned itself around and is consistently sunny and pleasant. Today seemed to be exceptionally hazy and humid and sweaty, but in a good way, because I am determined not to complain about such fair weather. At least for now.
I have been doing my best to continue adjusting to a strange city and finding ways to dampen the homesick...
