I’m terribly sorry, but some of you need to see this and let it marin8. If you use Tumblr (and I don’t think the majority of my readers do, so let me explain)… there’s a feature on this blogging platform where, much like Twitter, people can “follow you” and “like” your posts and sometimes I see people within Tumblr confuse their number of followers with… fame? Level of popularity? Level of relevancy?
Some of the best writers on Tumblr I know have a Tumblarity score of zero, but they are legitimately paid to write for a living. Some of the people I know from “around Tumblr” have thousands of followers, but no one outside of the Tumblr community would even know how to find their blog. Your “Tumblarity” is not a real number. It’s no reflection of who actually gives a shit about you or that people are reading your blog and caring about what you say. Tumblr is a lie. It’s just a blogging platform. It may be one of the easiest to use and may have some really high-profile people who have accounts, but that doesn’t mean anything. So does Wordpress, so does Blogger. No one’s “friends” here. Every time someone allows their number of Tumblr followers to go to their head, they become another Kool-Aid drinkin’ idiot. Don’t allow the hype to fool you. Someone as clever as Natasha or as opportunistic as Ned would be just as successful on any other platform.
Don’t. Believe. The. Hype.

Wait, what?
I mean… Oh yeah, right.
