1. You guys,

I am the proud new owner of a Minolta X-700 camera. I’m VERY excited about this, as I have been looking for an older manual SLR for a while. What’s really cool about this camera, other than it’s ability to .. well.. take photos, is the way I got it. KIJIJI. I know a lot of people use it. It’s great - but have you ever used it by putting up a wanted ad? THEY WORK. I put up an ad saying I was looking for a manual Canon dating back to the ’70s or ’80s and I got a response from a guy with a link to a camera for sale on Kijiji - pretty much the exact one I was looking for.

    The Minolta X-700

    But he didn’t stop there.

He asked me why I was looking for a Canon, and we chatted about it for a couple of emails before he mentioned that he had the Minolta that was virtually the same for half the price of the Canon in the ad he had sent me, gracefully reminding me that:

The camera is just the box that lets the light in

Now, I know it might seem like dude had planned this all along - and he may have (seriously? If he did… then props), but it worked out and now I have exactly what I wanted at a price that I can afford.

    THANKS KIJIJI!
