1. Links & Likes (Jan 31 - Feb 4)

In an effort to start actually blogging (whatever that really is?) as opposed to just scrap booking - and with a desire to not completely ignore anything that isn’t focused on design - I thought I’d share some links. These are sources from all over the internet that I’ve found useful or interesting, as well as links to a few things I’ve “liked” (a function that is Tumblr-specific) over the last four of five days.

This will be a weekly feature that you can look forward to from now on!

The Fox is Black killed it this week. I love seeing Bobby’s stuff pop up in my reader. His posts on the new James Blake video and a Year of the Rabbit animation both got my attention. If you haven’t heard James Blake yet get out under that rock and give him a listen. Please.

Rethink is an advertising agency. They are kind of the bees knees (or so I’ve heard) and they are hiring a Community/content manager in their Vancouver headquarters. If hanging out on Twitter, Facebook et al sounds like a good way to spend eight hours a day (and you have PR experience) then you should apply!

Do you design for the web? You need to read this. Tighten up your Photoshop game and you’ll be besties with the dev team in no time.

I find myself enamored by the startup life and it’s overall mysterious nature. What is it that people who work at startups actually do? I’ve recently started following the story of Luke (who I first found through trying to Make Something Every Day). Luke got a gig interning with Zerply. He’s cute (he has a beard!) and he makes things. He had me at beard, really.

I follow a few ladies who provide comedic relief to my dashboard on a regular basis and Drink Your Juice (aka Christine) is one of them. However, sometimes she gets serious (to a degree) and rather insightful. This had me nodding like I was listening my jam.

I tried curling my hair with a flatiron on Saturday night. Warning: this video is lovely, but makes this task look way easier than it turns out to be (or doesn’t in my case…)

Theo always shares links to downloadable goodies (see my jam above) that I would otherwise never find or have the tenacity to find. I sometimes shy away from downloading movies and music … ahem … illegally, but I couldn’t resist this one. It truly was a like. It isn’t amazing, but it has its moments.

The image above was liked here, but it was originally posted here

That’s a wrap, folks. Until next week!
