Weird thing of the week: Hidden Mothers

It’s been a long week. A long week full of learning in The School of Life. I feel like “Life Lessons” may be a defining thing for me this year. I’m thinking of devoting a separate post to that topic, so I’ll say no more.

On a lighter note, it’s Friday! Whee! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

PS: I’m trying a new thing to make these a bit more visual. I’ve seen lots of other lovely blogs do a little photo montage as part of the weekly wrap-up and I think it helps give the post some life. Hope you like!

This week was a big week for me. I’m making a change career-wise; switching jobs just before the Christmas holiday. I’ll be taking on a new opportunity that’s quite nerve-wracking, but I have a good feeling about it. Nothing like a challenge to start the new year off right.

I don’t want to get ahead of myself, though. There’s still a bit of time until the end of the year. At this point I’m happy to have made it to the weekend! Looking forward to going to chop down a tree and spend time with family & friends. I love this time of year!

Well hello! So perhaps it has been a while since I’ve done a weekly roundup, but I choose not to dwell on that. Let’s focus on the fact that it’s Friday and the freedom of Saturday and Sunday are a mere few hours away. I hope that you all have a lovely weekend. On to the goodies!

This week has been pretty interesting to say the least. I had a bit of a twitter discussion with Canadian comedian Gerry Dee about a design contest (read: crowd-sourcing/spec) he was trying to start over twitter. It has since been called off. I also attended an open house for a new local shop owned by a fellow letterpress lover (a full post on that to come!) and on Sunday I’ll be heading to Quebec city for a couple of days off. I’m also giving this chocolate chip cookie recipe a whirl somewhere in between birthday parties, letterpress printing, and prepping for my mini vacation. Oi! Hope your week was full but fun and that your weekend is great as well!

    On to the internet goodies!

I decided to try a little something different for this week’s main image. I got doodling and this came out, so I brought it into Computerland and added a pretty background colour! Aside from that, it’s business as usual this week! I’m headed to a wedding on Cape Breton Island and I feel inspired to take lots of photos and appreciate the beauty in everything around me. Hope the same for you!

    I’m BAAACK!

After a long (wayy to long) hiatus from this weekly feature (and tumblr in general) I’m back with some great links from the past week or so. The weather in Halifax is looking mighty fine for both Saturday and Sunday and I plan to take full advantage of this. Hope you’re in a similar boat wherever your location!

Friday has sort of become a “thing” in the last week or so thanks to Rebecca Black. Personally, I think it’s about time that Friday gets the recognition it deserves for being such an awesome day! I will be soaking up the potential that Friday at 5:00 brings and then trying to make the feeling last all the weekend long. Below are some of the things I think you should see:

Japan. It weighs on all of our hearts and minds and probably will in the weeks and months and years to come. Fundraising efforts are popping up left, right, and centre. There are even ways to support the relief efforts and get something wonderful (besides that feeling you get when you know you’ve done something good) in return. For the rest of the month of March, 100% of Mike Perry’s shop profits will go toward the cause (including his awesome books!). James White (a.k.a Signalnoise) has a poster for sale in his shop and has already raised over $10,000 for Japan. A new poster project by my friend Vince Perez (and his friends Mike Precious and Pat Dryburgh) called Love For Japan is also a great way to get some art in return for a donation. Of course, there are all of the traditional donation avenues.

I don’t often get excited about comedy films, but this one has some awesome lady actors in it and looks rather hilarious.
