Dan & Ceilidh’s place has perfect light for photos and they are such awesome brunch hosts. We had pancakes with yogurt, raspberry apple compote, and (of course) maple syrup. Coffee and fresh apple & pear juice to wash it down.

There is a project on the horizon! It involves the lovely people at Ratinaud and I’m nervous about it but I think that is a good thing. I hope to be able to share the results with you in the near future.

I took these photos when I popped in over this past weekend to chat about the upcoming collaboration. Frederic, Tom, and Rose were busy bees, but so nice. I can’t wait to work with them!

  3. Late Summer Beet Salad

Nothing says Fall like a root vegetable and nothing says Summer like a salad; making this colourful dish a perfect late summer recipe.

I am beyond proud to share this video with you all. I overcame a huge learning curve to get this to a place I am happy with (for a first go, at least!). My inspiration for this video was simply to try making something a more involved than my first few vignettes.

Lately, the Kinfolk crew and content creators like Tiger in a Jar and Nikole Herriott have inspired me immensely; taking otherwise unremarkable tasks like making dinner or sharing a cup of coffee and highlighting the beauty and simplicity of those experiences.

The recipe for the salad and the dressing was modified from this one (I added corn, the nuts to the dressing + on top, and used beet greens instead of salad greens). Thanks to Jill for her amazing patience, her cute hands, and the creative kick in the pants! There will be more of these to come, I hope!

  4. I can’t say for sure why it took me this long to try one. I’m on the macaron side of the fence for sure. Especially if they have a raspberry filling. This precious little thing is from Le French Fix Pâtisserie.

  5. I’ve been meaning to post about these cupcakes for a while now. I made them for an event and I couldn’t resist the vanilla with vanilla simplicity of the recipe. That, and the genius use of parchment paper. The only alteration here is the mini as opposed to full size.

Luckily, my neighbour had some Mexican vanilla (super hard to find!), which I think is essential to this special treat. Overall they looked and tasted great. The cake was a bit dense but I’m a novice and I was told that I may have beat the batter too much. Lesson learned!

Here is an photographic ode to these lovely little specimens.

As you can tell, I was in love. The kitchen smelled like sugar for days afterwards. I’ll miss you sweet cupcakes!
